Selecting a finish is a design decision, not a colour decision. The colour is the last thing we settle.

Every sample board that leaves our studio is built around three variables: the aggregate, the pigment, and the light the wall will actually live under. Get any of the three wrong and a considered finish will read as flat, or busy, or wrong for the room.

Aggregate decides the depth

Fine marble dust gives a polished, almost liquid finish. Coarser aggregates hold shadow — a wall reads as textured stone rather than lacquered plaster. The choice is set by the size of the room and the angle of the light.

Pigment decides the mood

Mineral pigments do not sit on top of the plaster — they are part of it. They shift with the light through the day. A warm ivory in morning sun becomes a soft grey by evening. This is a feature, not a defect.

We do not choose a colour. We choose how a wall will behave from sunrise to lamplight.
